What is Manslaughter?
Manslaughter in Utah is a crime just below murder in punishment. It is, more or less, a branch of criminal homicide, and is charged when:
- You recklessly cause the death of another person.
- You killed someone, incorrectly believing you were justified in doing so.
- You murder someone, but there are very good reasons you should not found guilty of murder.
Possible Punishments for Manslaughter in Utah.
Manslaughter is a second-degree felony, and carries with it a possible fifteen year jail sentence. If manslaughter was caused while driving a car, your license will be revoked. Additionally, a Utah manslaughter conviction will make it difficult to find a good job or housing. This is a very serious crime that requires a skilled Utah manslaughter attorney.
